Saving Endangered Species Youth Art Contest

The contest will officially open for entries in January 2021. Open nationally to United States K-12 students.


Participating students can create artworks featuring threatened, endangered and recovered animals and plants, using a variety of media and techniques. This project provides all kinds of opportunities to learn about amazing land and water species found in the United States and US territorials.


Students can explore the rich diversity of the natural world through their creativity and learn that art is a significant way to communicate a message of conservation and hope.

Minigrants for Artists & Arts Organizations

The Anton Art Center is the Region 10A Regranting Agency for the Michigan Council for Arts and Cultural Affairs (MCACA), and will award minigrants to nonprofit organizations, schools, municipalities, and individual professional artists in Macomb and Oakland counties in support of arts and culture programming and professional or organizational development.

Deadlines for FY 2021​ Round 2: TBA


Minigrants will be awarded in two categories:

  • Arts and Culture Projects – organizations may apply for grants of up to $4,000.

  • Professional or Organizational Development – individual professional artists and organizations may apply for grants of up to $1,500.


Michigan non-profit organizations, schools, municipalities and individual artists are eligible to apply for activities that take place between October 1st, 2020 and September 30th, 2021 (individual professional artists are only eligible for professional development support).


The Anton Art Center will offer a series of FREE informational workshops on minigrant guidelines and the application process. Funds are awarded on a competitive basis, and organizations will benefit from submitting a well-written grant application and supporting materials which conform to the guidelines.


Attending an application workshop will help applicants understand what is required for a competitive application. Though not required, new and prospective applicants are encouraged to attend one of these workshops.
