June 14 - July 11, 2021
Art Mile is a citywide digital art exhibition that champions Detroit's vibrant and diverse arts community by promoting public programs and online acquisitions. The Anton Art Center is proud to feature plein air artist and volunteer wildlife conservationist, Alex Gilford.
"By packing-up my easel and painting in parks, preserves, and wildlife refuges, I utilize them in a minimally invasive way,” Gilford shares. “Through the practice of art as an outdoor activity, it is a goal of mine to strengthen the relationship between the arts and the natural and cultural heritage that these places preserve. In addition to benefiting Anton Art Center, a portion of the proceeds from the sale of these paintings will go to the International Wildlife Refuge Alliance."
The Anton Art Center joins over 80 exhibitor participants for Art Mile Detroit, taking place June 14 - July 11, 2021. As the second edition of the Detroit arts festival, Art Mile will feature a full month of public programs and online exhibitions, including a special exhibition organized by Art Mile Curatorial Fellow Juana Williams, and a suite of panel discussion organized by Independent Curators International (ICI).
