Dear Friend of the Anton Art Center,

 

I want to share an important update about the elevator at the Anton Art Center.

 

As many of you know, our elevator recently failed, creating significant access challenges within our historic building. We are now without an elevator that provides access to our classrooms, galleries, offices, and community programs. But we are working to fix that.

 

In late December, The Art Center Board of Trustees made the decision to replace and modernize the elevator and in January, in partnership with the City of Mount Clemens, we selected the contractor who will be completing the work. The total cost of the project is $156,600, and while the timeline is longer than a typical building repair, we are grateful to now have the project underway. New components were ordered in February and that fabrication has begun. 

 

We anticipate the elevator will be fully operational by mid-summer.

 

Accessibility is not optional for us — it is essential. The elevator ensures that everyone can fully participate in the various arts experiences offered in our building.
