In April 2019, the Anton Art Center, in partnership with the City of Mount Clemens, Mount Clemens Downtown Development Authority, and Macomb County Planning & Economic Development, engaged with Artspace to host a series of focus groups and a public meeting to explore whether Mount Clemens could be the home of a new Artspace live/work development. Participants from our community and across the region came together in a show of support, illustrating the need for greater arts infrastructure and affordable live/work facilities for area artists.
After reviewing the data and information collected during the Preliminary Feasibility Visit, Artspace has recommended that Mount Clemens consider moving forward with a mixed-use artist live/work development, and undertake a market survey to determine how large a development and what types of amenities would be desired and feasible. The Artspace steering committee is working with Artspace now to develop the market survey, which we anticipate will be available in January, 2020.
Financial support for the feasibility study was received from the DTE Foundation, Macomb County Planning & Economic Development, and the Mount Clemens Downtown Development Authority. Financial support for the market survey is being provided by the DTE Foundation, and the Community Foundation for Southeast Michigan.
