Round 1 Art Projects Mini-grant Awardees
Oakland Choral Society will perform Antonin Dvorak's choral masterpiece "Stabat Mater" at Detroit's historic, Ste Anne Catholic Church on Sunday, March 29, 2020 at 3:30 pm. The concert will also include professional soloists and orchestral accompaniment by Orchestra Sono, a locol professional orchestra. The concert will provide a unique opportunity to perform this stunning choral work in a beautiful venue.
Accent Pontiac is an El Sistema-inspired music education program in Pontiac, MI. They are a partner of the Pontiac School District, serving 260 students each week with free brass, woodwind and percussion classes up to 4 days per week. In three years, they have seen the confidence, improved school attendance and stronger leadership skills.
The expansion project will allow them to add over 100 students to these music classes.
The 2020 Festival will select between 12 to 14 full length, feature films and a competition between 5-8 short films submitted by young directors. In addition there will be a program of shorts for children. The Italian Film Festival USA offers the opportunity to see the latest and best in Italian Cinema.
Ferndale High school will host the professional dance company, Eisenhower Dance Detroit, in a multi-week residency during the 2019-20 school year.
Oakland County Children's Village Foundation collaborates with the Birmingham Bloomfield Art Center Studio One Outreach Program to provide quality, hands-on art opportunities to the youths placed at Children's Village. By engaging at-risk children/youth in creative art experience, the program fosters personal growth, tactile experiences and creative expression.
"A Day at the Ballet" program allows under-sourced and underrepresented classrooms of children to come and experience the culture of the performance arts. On the day of the ballet, students are lead on a guided tour of the behind the scenes action.
KicksART Farmington will host the Greater Farmington Film Festival presenting a mix of documentary, animated and feature films that explore important social and contemporary issues with the aim to inspire audiences to make a difference in their community.
The Song of Freedom Choral Festival is a collaborative artistic experience that features the Chamber Singers, Community Chorus and the invited Macomb Children's Choir. The goal is to educate and inspire the communities through American choral masterworks, both new and old.
The 3rd Annual Pontiac Arts Crawl is a one-day, five hour, arts and cultural festival event in downtown Pontiac , produced by the City of Pontiac's Arts Comisssion. This free, pedestrian-friendly event for arts lovers of all ages and income levels showcases local artist (45), musical performances, (70) students, emerging and professional visual artists in popup galleries, open mic. poetry, dance sculpture murals, and 20 interactive experiences.
